Quilters Paradise was established in August of 2001 by owner Cathy Hopkins.
Since it’s opening, we have been meeting the needs of the quilters and hobbyists in Mount Pleasant, Iowa as well as the surrounding area. We strive to meet our motto, “Quilters Paradise: Where heaven is only a stitch away.”
Since the very beginning we have offered a very wide variety of fabrics ranging from flannels, Kansas Troubles, Civil War, Fireside and more! We also offer a large selection of notions, kits and book patterns.
In 2009 (after several years of preparation) we converted the apartment above the quilt shop into a Retreat center which anyone can rent for a day, weekend, or more. The retreat center has a full kitchen and bath as well as 3 bedrooms with 9 beds and a large workroom equipped with tables, a large cutting table and ironing big boards.
In 2011 the store was proud to offer over 2000 bolts of fabric when unfortunately tragedy struck in the form of a fire in the adjoining building. Due to smoke and water damage Quilters Paradise lost 100% of its merchandise and was forced to start over from scratch. Since then we have made large leaps towards being just as great as before. We offer long arm quilting services done on our Gamill Statler Longarm Stitchers.
